How charity:water
Makes a Difference:

charity:water is a non-profit organization on a mission to bring clean and safe drinking water to every person on the planet.

They have funded 11,771 water projects in 22 countries.

Their operating costs are privately funded, so the organisation ensures that 100% of donations go towards their projects.

They also always work with strong local partners on the ground to build and maintain their projects.

We're so grateful to Research and Markets for their generous support in Mozambique. Research and Markets generously sponsored a drilled well to support our work there which will soon serve hundreds of people with clean water.
Scott Harrison, Founder and CEO, charity:water

How We Are Helping:

Currently, we are sponsoring the building of a well in the Morrumbala district of Mozambique, where 52% of the population lack access to clean water.

Once completed, this well will bring clean drinking water to more than 300 people.

Clean drinking water is a catalyst for health, gender equality, improved education, and economic development in the area.

How MS Ireland
Makes a Difference:

The Irish Multiple Sclerosis Society helps people with MS and their families to live fuller, more independent lives.

They run Ireland's only respite and therapy centre for people with MS, offering short-time respite care, therapeutic services, neurological assessments and many social activities.

They also run Individual and Family Support programmes, finance MS Research and advocate for improvements in services and policies affecting people with MS.

Research and Markets has been instrumental in supporting MS Ireland develop a number of our campaigns and initiatives. That support has enabled us to carry out essential repair work in our MS Care Centre, assisted our regional community workers to provide programmes to those who were newly diagnosed with MS, helped fund our School Visit Ambassadors programme and provided media and resources for teachers and pupils participating in the MS READaTHON all around the country.
Ava Battles, Chief Executive MS Ireland

How We Are Helping:

We have supported the MS READaTHON for many years, a campaign where children get sponsored to read as many books as they can for one month.

The READaTHON encourages children to discover the joys of reading while helping raise much needed funds for people living with MS.

We sponsor a school visit programme which enables ambassadors to visit schools throughout Ireland to talk about the challenges of living with MS and the benefits of the READaTHON.

A 7.8 MAGNITUDE EARTHQUAKE NEAR NEPAL'S CAPITAL CITY OF KATHMANDU HAS LEFT THE COUNTRY DEVASTATED. OVER 5,500 LIVES HAVE BEEN CLAIMED, THOUSANDS HAVE BEEN LEFT INJURED AND COUNTLESS HOMES HAVE BEEN DESTROYED. OVER ONE MILLION CHILDREN ARE IN URGENT NEED OF AID. RESEARCH AND MARKETS IS COMMITTED TO ASSISTING THE RELIEF EFFORT.

CHARITY PARTNERS ON THE GROUND IN NEPAL

We are delighted to be working with two charities, UNICEF and Médecins Sans Frontières, that are providing aid in Nepal. Both have long histories working in Nepal and have vast experience in providing emergency aid in areas struck by natural disasters. Research and Markets has committed €25,000 (USD$ 28,000) to each to support their efforts.

HOW UNICEF ARE HELPING:

Tents, hygiene kits, water purification tablets and buckets have been dispatched to Gorkha for distribution, the area at the epicentre of the earthquake, where the presence of dead bodies poses the risk of disease outbreak. Vital supplies have also been dispatched to Kavre and Dhading.

UNICEF is delivering water purification tablets, buckets and hygiene kits in Bhaktapur where only 1 in 5 people are estimated to have access to clean water.

Water tankers are distributing clean water to 16 informal camps that have sprung up in the Kathmandu valley.

Teams are identifying and assisting children who have been separated from their families.

UNICEF is working with partners to provide psychological support for children living in informal camps who have experienced extreme shock

The lives of so many children have been torn apart and they are in desperate need of life-saving support, including clean water, shelter and sanitation. Without a safe water supply, waterborne diseases remain huge risks for children. Many families are struggling simply to protect themselves from the sun and rain and we only expect needs to grow in the coming days as we receive more information from remoter areas and the full scale of the disaster becomes more apparent. Thanks to the generosity of supporters like Research and Markets UNICEF will be able to reach and protect more children across Nepal.
Peter Power, Executive Director, UNICEF

How We Are Helping:

Research and Markets has donated €25,000 directly to the UNICEF Nepal appeal. Based on costs from the field, it could provide 2,550 families with clean water providing them with water kits including containers, buckets, soap and water purification tablets. Or help 384 children and their families with tarpaulin tents, providing them with safe shelter. Or it could help provide 5,435 children with emergency food.

How Médecins Sans Frontières
are helping:

Over 65 tonnes of emergency supplies and drugs have been dispatched to Nepal, including an inflatable field hospital in which to treat the wounded.

MSF currently has over 61 medical & surgical staff on the ground; including an 11-member rapid intervention surgical team that is providing support to hospitals badly affected by the earthquake.

MSF is proving medical support to hospitals and communities in remote villages and mountainous areas only accessible by helicopter; such as Ghorka district North East of Kathmandu.

MSF is working to provide surgical and medical care to people affected by the devastating earthquake in Nepal. We treat our patients based on medical need alone, regardless of race, religion, gender, or politics. Thanks to generous supporters like Research and Markets, MSF can continue to do what we do best- respond rapidly and effectively to emergencies whenever and wherever they occur.
Jane-Ann McKenna, Director of MSF

How We Are Helping:

MSF is a medical humanitarian organisation that provides emergency aid and quality medical care to people caught up in war, disasters and epidemics. They treat patients based on medical need alone, regardless of race, religion, gender, or politics. Research and Markets has donated €25,000 to MSF to be used in the area of greatest need.
