The course educates the user on the basics of security including security threats via emails, Internet and at the workplace and informs the user about the policies on incident reporting and responses.
The failure by a business or institution to maintain the security of its information is a major risk factor. Such failure can lead to loss of competitively important information, legal actions by employees and third parties and regulatory sanctions.
Protecting an institution's information does not simply involve implementing security products. According to the Global Information Security Survey conducted by Ernst & Young (2004), the lack of security awareness among employees is cited as the second greatest threat facing institutions. An institution cannot achieve an adequate degree of security unless its employees are trained in the proper handling and usage of information.
The course is highly interactive and appealing and can be complemented with a refresher course and game based assessments on a periodic basis to reinforce best practices.
