-Poor weather as well as growing price pressures saw new product development stifled in 2007, with product launches specifically focused on diet, health and naturalness.
-Consumer desire for health well being and naturalness benefited the smoothie and not from concentrate (NFC) juice categories with volume gains up 44% and 5% respectively in 2007.
-In line with the consumer desire for healthier drinks, low calorie, no added sugar and mid calorie drinks witnessed their share of the market reach more than 75% in 2007.
-Continued price promotions by the major retail multiples along with consumer acceptance of the importance of 5-a-day, saw chilled juices share increase for another year to 53% of the juice and nectars sector.
-Despite the growing number of small independent manufacturer's within the UK marketplace the top five UK soft drinks companies all witnessed relative market share increases in 2007, accounting for 53% of volume.
