Datamonitor analyzes the impact of new 25 drugs currently in late stage R&D have the potential to become blockbusters by 2007 with a combined value of $37 billion. Datamonitor''s analysis suggests that AstraZeneca will benefit most, mainly due to the anticipated success of its cardiovascular portfolio. Four pharmaceutical companies with R&D spends in excess of $1 billion in 2000 have no late stage products with blockbuster potential.
