Saskatchewan has taken a bottom-up approach to the EHR system, beginning with the Electronic Patient Record (EPR) in hospitals that share common standards. Additional focus is being placed on Radiology Information Systems, Picture Archiving and Communications Systems, and all areas of Diagnostic Imaging. Saskatchewan has also made significant investments across the spectrum of healthcare requirements, such as aggressive investments in human resources. The province has also established favourable partnerships with the Saskatchewan Nurses Union and the Saskatchewan Medical Association, to work together to address the shortage of health practitioners across the continuum of care and throughout the province, including the North.
