This study aims to explore the Greek market of ceramic floor and wall tiles. The report also offers key conclusions with respect to the demand, the supply, the domestic and the international market of the assessed products.

The ceramic floor and wall tile sector is mainly based on imports and much less on domestic production. Moreover, concentration in the sector is low; since even large companies have relatively small market shares. A large number of companies, which import and market the specific products, operate in the sector of ceramic tiles. On the contrary, production is controlled by a few, large-sized industries. Most import companies market other goods as well, such as sanitary ware, faucets and taps, bathroom furniture and accessories, etc. To a great extent, imported tiles originate from the EU, mainly from Italy and Spain; countries which are anyhow the largest producers in the EU.

Over recent years, large sector companies are trying to deal with competition. To do so, they have been creating their own sale points locally as well as regionally. It is important to point out that up until today the sector is characterized by a relatively low level of concentration in terms of market shares; this being due in part to the overtime increase shown in the demand for ceramic tiles, resulting in the market not having 'reacted in a concentrated manner' so far.
