The Medical Management of HIV/AIDS provides the active intermediate to advanced HIV clinician with a comprehensive review of the science and application of HIV therapy.

Lectures are presented by a group of leading clinicians and researchers who are also dedicated to teaching in their area of expertise. Topics include current dilemmas in antiretroviral therapy, post exposure prophylaxis, common metabolic and drug toxicities, as well as HIV/HCV/HBV co-infection.

Target Audience

The Medical Management of HIV/AIDS multimedia program is well designed for practicing HIV clinicians including internists, family practitioners, infectious disease specialists, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants.

Learning Objectives

- At the conclusion of this Medical Management of HIV/AIDS multimedia program, participants will be able to discuss:

- Recent changes in the epidemiology of AIDS nationally and globally

- New developments in the understanding of HIV pathogenesis

- Antiretroviral resistance and current strategies for salvage therapy

- Current recommendations for the management of occupational and sexual post exposure
prophylaxis (PEP), HCV and/or HBV co-infection with HIV

- New developments in HIV-related dermatologic, pulmonary, HIV transplant, HIV-Related renal,
neurological, and psychiatric disease

The University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine (UCSF) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Designation Statement

UCSF designates this educational activity for a maximum of 15.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

This educational activity is a multimedia format. The activity provides the active intermediate to advanced HIV clinician with a comprehensive review of the science and application of HIV therapy. It is estimated that it should take the average learner 15 hours, including completion of the activity evaluation, to conclude the activity.

Release date: April 1, 2008

Credits expire: March 31, 2011

CME credit is obtained upon successful completion of an activity evaluation. A processing fee must accompany the evaluation application.
