Hong Kong has been experiencing rapid growth in its Internet market. The speed of expansion was highlighted early on in the first half of 2001, when Hong Kong had the highest rate of growth in the world for household Internet penetration. There were in excess of 4 million Internet users in the territory, gaining access using either dial-up or broadband at the end of 2006. And broadband Internet subscriptions had well and truly surpassed dial-up subscriptions by end-2005, with broadband continuing to grow. From just one ISP in 1990, there were around 180 by early 2007. This report provides a range of statistics and other information on Hong Kong’s Internet market.
