The Continent has long lagged the Colonies in DTV adoption. The market dynamics in Europe are decidedly different from those in the US. According to the latest figures, in the US nearly 90% of TV households subscribe to a cable or satellite TV service, while in Europe the number is just 53%. But all that may be changing, quickly.

Attention: Advertising Agencies, Marketers, ISPs and Telecoms, Broadcast, Cable and Satellite Providers, Entertainment, Information, Sports, Music and Movie Producers and Home Electronics Manufacturers.

The market dynamics on the Continent are decidedly different from the US. In the US nearly 90% of TV households subscribe to a cable or satellite TV service, while in Europe just 53% do. But all that may be changing, quickly. See why in this new Europe Digital TV spotlight report.

The Europe Digital TV spotlight report explores the interrelated dynamics of the three market segments that are emerging in Europe: free digital terrestrial TV, subscription digital cable and subscription digital satellite TV.

Cable and satellite TV companies are hard at work to convince consumers of their continuing value in the years ahead, as free multichannel digital TV enters the market. Premium content such as sports and movies will be one of their trump cards but advanced TV services such as video-on-demand (VOD), high-definition TV (HDTV), and digital video recorder (DVR) functions, are also likely to be important differentiators between free and pay TV services.

But competition is also emerging from a different angle Ñ the Internet. By the time most countries have switched off their analog TV signal, broadband Internet users will have enough bandwidth available to them to access high quality video over the Internet, and a whole new set of players will move into the TV market.

Questions Addressed by the Report:

- What is the status of digital TV in Europe?
- What platforms and companies dominate the sector?
- Will the Internet emerge as a viable fourth platform for digital TV?
- What are the prospects for advanced TV services such as HDTV, VOD and DVRs?
- And many more...
