This report has been archived. The size of these two states makes it difficult to develop economically viable regional broadband projects. Nevertheless some remarkable projects have been rolled out, such as the one in Coorong, Yorke Peninsula and Salisbury in South Australia. Regional projects in Northern Territory are also covered in this report. In August 2006 the KIDB and Kangaroo Island Council had taken the lead on developing a broadband project with the aim of delivering broadband services across the Island. In November 2006 Internode announced it would deploy broadband infrastructure in a 42,000sq kms region stretching from Adelaide’s northern fringe to the Flinders Ranges, through an agreement with the Central Local Government Region of SA.
