A market analysis of Flash streaming video, from CDN provisioning capacity, to content site implementation and advertiser adoption in support of streaming advertising campaigns. Flash streaming video has deep roots in the entertainment, creative, production and now distribution communities, and is poised to become the de facto format for streaming advertising. This report looks a how CDNs, sites, and advertisers are incorporating Flash into their overall streaming initiatives.

- Within a period of about eighteen months, Flash streaming media servers make up about 18% of total streaming media server infrastructure, with strong capacity growth forecast into 2006 and beyond

- Flash video servers, on average, can handle about 30 gigabits of capacity each, with some providers reporting capacities of 180 gigabits per server

- In general, more Flash servers need to be deployed per gigabit of capacity output when compared to other format codecs

- On average, about 14.7% of all streaming video gigabytes transferred in 2005 will be in the Flash format

- That number is forecast to rise 30.6% in 2006 to 19.2%

- The ranges of percent by CDN for Flash streaming video range from 50% in 2006 down to 0%

- While the premium boosts average per gigabyte pricing for video by 40% from $1.53/gigabyte to $2.14/gigabyte, advertisers and publishers haven't been opposed to paying it in 2005

- Total streaming video ad billings (excluding pre roll avails sold against Internet Music Radio content) is forecast at $321 million dollars in 2005

- Of that figure, $128.4 million dollars (40%) of total streaming video advertising online in 2005 will be in Flash format

- The majority of that revenue $101.2 million, or 31.5%) is made up of embedded/in-page ad units delivered by providers such as Eyewonder and Klipmart
