Canada E-Commerce Report
eMarketer, Sep 2005, Pages: 19
While Canada has the essential underpinnings of a strong e-commerce society — and Canadians go online in droves just as US users do — online purchasing remains minuscule.
Canada is a country one-ninth the size of the US, yet in 2005 Canadian consumers will spend only $4.6 billion online — less than one-thirtieth the amount spent by US consumers.
Find out why Canadian consumers are so reluctant to commit to online shopping, and what online retailers can do about it, read the new Canada E-Commerce report.
The Canada E-Commerce report explores the enigma of the North to answer the question of why Canadian consumers and companies are so reluctant to commit to online shopping.
We project that online buying in Canada will grow more than 20% a year over the next five years, but it is important to note that the growth comes at a low starting point—and is a slight downward revision from our estimates of a year ago. Indeed, if not for US retailers and Internet companies moving north seeking growth, Canada's e-commerce projections would be nearly frozen.
Key questions the Canada E-Commerce report addresses:
- How does Canada's e-commerce infrastructure compare with that of other advanced industrial nations? - How large is Canada's retail e-commerce segment? - What is the market potential? - What is holding Canada's online retail market back? - Why do Canadians shop online—but not buy? - What is the single most-important thing Canada's retail e-commerce sector must do? - And much more…
