This breakthrough study highlights best practices from 25 major companies and reveals new approaches for addressing your logistics challenges. You'll also learn why evaluation is important to the bottom line success of any communications vehicle.

We were recently helping a client improve the distribution of her employee newsletter when she asked, 'Has anyone ever conducted formal research about best practices in employee communication distribution channels?' None came to mind initially, but we felt certain that somewhere there must be someone leading the charge.

So, our team conducted an extensive literature review on the topic, with hopes of finding the research our client was desperately seeking. To our surprise, we could not find one publicized study or article that exists on employee communication distribution and access methods.

Since we believe that distribution and access are essential building blocks to employee communication effectiveness, we decided to conduct this benchmarking study. A team of researchers targeted leading organizations across a broad range of industries and asked communicators:

- What they do to get communication to employees
- How effective are their processes in terms of reliability, cost and time it takes to manage

Our research included three main areas of focus:

- Print publications (company-wide employee newsletters or magazines
- Electronic messages (How employees access electronic messages: e-mail, intranet or other)
- Bulletin board updates

A fourth area of focus, evaluation, emerged during our analysis of our research.

Our sample was made up of communicators from 25 major organizations across a broad range of industries:

- Pharmaceutical
- Financial Services
- Technology
- Healthcare
- Retail
- Consumer Products
- Publishing
