1Q 2005 Broadband CPE Market Share Report

In 1Q 05, 21 million broadband CPE units shipped, an increase of 23% Year over Year (YoY). Revenue increased 20% YoY, up from $930 million in 1Q 04, to $1.1 billion in 1Q 05.
Increasing VoIP deployments by cable operators in North America and Western Europe contributed to shipment and revenue growth for cable modems. Cable modem unit shipments were up by 5% Quarter over Quarter (QoQ). In 1Q 05, Embedded Multimedia Terminal Adapters (E-MTAs) comprised more than 20% of cable modem shipments.
Standalone DSL modem shipments were up slightly; although, shipments are expected to decline throughout the forecast period as DSL service providers move to gateway premise equipment in selected markets.
