Colombia - Mobile Market - Overview, Statistics & Forecasts
Paul Budde Communication Pty Ltd., June 2009, Pages: 12
Colombia’s mobile penetration is considerably higher than would be expected given the country’s general economic indicators, largely thanks to the country’s mobile rates, which have been among the lowest in Latin America. América Móvil’s Comcel is the leading cellular operator, followed by Telefónica’s Movistar and Millicom-controlled Tigo. Avantel uses iDEN technology to serve the corporate market. Comcel, Movistar, and Tigo all launched 3G services in 2008. As in other Latin American countries, text messaging is growing ever more popular in Colombia, especially among the younger population. Accompanied by key market statistics and analyses, this report provides an overview of major developments in the market and brief profiles of all mobile operators. In the report we also forecast scenarios for the mobile telephony market for the years 2013 and 2018.
