Telecom Basics
Mind Commerce LLC, April 2006, Pages: 255
This publication represents self-paced instruction, providing telecommunications and IT professionals with an understanding of the technology and business of telecommunications. The professional will obtain a foundation of fundamentals including what comprises a network, wireless and wireline industries, manufacturing and carrier sectors, and basic business models.
Telecommunications Basics was developed by P.J. Louis, a 25-year plus veteran of the telecommunications industry. He is the author of seven telecommunications technology-business publications; published by McGraw-Hill and us. He is a former national standards committee chairman. He has been involved in both the development of wireline and wireless standards.
Mr. Louis has served in various executive capacities in the industry; NYNEX, Bell Communications Research, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Fun Little Movies, and Dome Communications.
Mr. Louis had been a practice leader at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he was responsible for corporate restructuring in the telecommunications and technology industries. While at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Mr. Louis saw firsthand the deterioration of the corporate technology leadership in the USA. Mr. Louis realized that a large number of CTOs, VPs of Engineering, senior executives and mid-level managers in telecom and technology companies were unable to grasp telecom fundamentals and the business fundamentals of telecom service provisioning. He became convinced that a course in telecom basics was needed.
