This book is a collection of articles covering the topic of protein biology. The chapters have been taken, unaltered, directly from R.A. Meyers Encyclopedia of Molecular Cell Biology and Molecular Medicine and assembled in 2 volumes. The book clusters well with our program on Protein Science and Molecular Biology, and provides the opportunity for smaller libraries unable to purchase the entire encyclopedia to access this content.

With three Nobel Laureates contributing to this invaluable collection of high-quality articles, carefully selected from the highly praised R.A. Meyers Encyclopedia, these two volumes cover a wide range of topics in protein research. Clearly divided into sections on structure, modeling, expression, analysis and others, the chapters are designed to aid readers of all levels of expertise. Each chapter includes a glossary of the most important keywords, a concise summary of the article concerned and comprehensive references for further reading. Similarly, the uniform structure of the articles makes them very easy to use, resulting in a ready reference for molecular and cell biologists, biochemists, biophysicists, and biotechnologists, as well as those working in the pharmaceutical and biotechnological industries.

About the author
Robert A. Meyers obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry at the University of California at Los Angeles. He was a post-doctoral fellow at the California Institute of Technology and has more than 17 patents, 50 technical papers and 12 books to his name. As Editor-in-Chief he conceived and edited several ambitious multivolume reference works, e.g. the Encyclopedia of Analytical Chemistry (Wiley), the preceding Encyclopedia of Molecular Biology and Molecular Medicine (VCH) and the Encyclopedia of Physical Science and Technology (Academic Press).
