A Looming Price Threat: Philips' Strategies in the Chinese LCD TV Market
Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute (MIC) [a division of Institute for Information Industry (III)], Jan 2007, Pages: 14
Philips is the only European LCD TV vendor active in the Chinese market. Towards the end of 2004, Philips sold its China-based LCD monitor and value-line LCD TV manufacturing businesses to TPV. In 2005, Philips held a larger share of the Chinese LCD TV market than any other international vendor; however, its market share had fallen from 9% in 2004 to 7% in 2005. In 2006, Philips was faced not only with intense price competition from Chinese LCD TV brands, but also with fierce competition from Sony and Samsung in the high-end segment. This report will analyze the development of Philips' LCD TV business in China.
