Nokia Latin America: Rising the GSM Wave
Pyramid Research, Inc., Aug 2002, Pages: 12
Finland-based Nokia is one of the largest mobile infrastructure providers in the world. Yet the vendor has had mixed success in Latin America. While its mobile handset unit has successfully established itself as one of the region’s largest terminal suppliers, its mobile infrastructure unit has obtained only a limited footprint. Nokia Networks’ presence has been restricted due to its lack of an 800 MHz product, the chosen band by most countries in the region. The uptake of GSM in Latin America, both through the launch new operators and the overlay of existing networks, presents an invaluable opportunity for Nokia to grow its presence in Latin America, particularly in the infrastructure market.
