Recent developments in China are expected to have a significant impact on the market for lead-acid batteries in China.
First, lead prices are finally returning to their pre-1995 levels after several years of substantial increase. Second, the Chinese Government has removed restrictions on the use of electric vehicles in many key cities - increasing the demand for battery application for the growing number of these vehicles. Lead-acid batteries are a key component in some of China’s fastest growing industries - including the automobile industry that has been increasing at a rate much faster than GDP for the past several years.
