The liberalisation of the telecoms industry has dramatically stimulated competition among service providers, including datacoms providers. Business customers in Taiwan now have easier and better access to datacoms services thanks to this increased competition and the belief that outsourcing business IT infrastructures can simplify the process of IT operation and make more economic sense. This paper profiles three DC market leaders - HiNet, Apol and SeedNet - illustrating the dynamics of competition in DC business and the distinctive strength of each player. The profiles describe the operators'market share, data transport capacities, and their relationships with fixed telephony service providers - elements which we believe will be key determinants of their success.
