Demand for Two Numbers Fuels Dual-Mode Handset Market in China
In-Stat/MDR, July 2007, Pages: 15
Driven by CDMA operators and upcoming 3G services, dual-mode phones will become an important and independent market segment within a few years. Dual-mode handsets were formerly produced only intermittently, but there are now a dozen handset makers, including Yulong CoolPAD, ZTE, Samsung, Hisense, CECT, UTStarcom, Daxian, LG, Motorola, and Amoi.
A question facing these handset makers and others who are taking a wait-and-see attitude to dual-mode phones is how big the dual-mode phone market will be. To examine this question from the demand side, in March 2007 we conducted an Internet survey of 617 mobile users who were currently not using dual-mode phones.
By doing this, We answered the following questions: - What kinds of mobile users are interested in dual-mode phones? - Why do they need dual-mode phones? - What kinds of dual-mode phones do they need? - How much extra are they prepared to pay for a dual-mode phone?
