This book provides comprehensive coverage of the fundamentals and application of digital electronics, bringing together information on number systems, binary codes, logic devices, integrated circuits, and instrumentation and measurement in one text. There is a continual focus on practical application, as there is a section on application relevant information in each chapter, along with worked through problems and exercises. The book starts with a full introduction to the basic principles behind digital systems, including chapters on logic gates and families, Boolean algebra and minimization techniques. Maini then moves on to look in detail at a range of logic devices, both combinational (multiplexers, encoders and programmable logic devices) and sequential (flip-flops, counters, and shift registers). The following chapters are devoted to digital to analog and analog to digital converters, before discussing microprocessors and microcomputers, in particular microcontrollers. The final chapters give useful digital troubleshooting techniques for various categories of electronics circuits, as well as analyzing digital test equipment and instrumentation. The book concludes with a glossary listing digital integrated circuits.
