Wireless Trends and Expenditures: US Professional Services
In-Stat/MDR, Oct 2007, Pages: 19
This report looks at the usage patterns and plans of the professional services vertical for wireless data and reports about their use of industry-specific applications, horizontal applications, and use of devices. The data presented is based upon primary research obtained in a recent survey that included 77 US professional services decision makers. This report also looks at the spending among professional services firms. The focus is on services for both wireless voice and mobile data, and the spending on wireless equipment within this vertical market. To put the wireless spending data in perspective, it is compared to wireline spending. The key finding is that spending on wireless services is projected to exceed spending on wireline services by 2010. This is surprising in that wireless spending in the majority of professional services firms is managed very casually. As it becomes the dominant telecommunications cost within an organization, companies should watch this expense more closely.
Another significant finding is that mobile data spending is growing much faster than the spending for wireless voice services. Wireless voice growth is in single digits, with an 8% CAGR, while mobile data is four times that, with a 34% CAGR. Some within the telecommunications industry tend to focus on voice services. This focus would miss the greatest growth opportunities.
