Smartphone and Handset Operating Systems in Europe
In-Stat/MDR, Dec 2007, Pages: 29
The European market for smartphones is alive and dynamic. As network operators have continued to build out wireless networks with increased bandwidth and as the mobile voice and text market has become saturated, the market has become increasingly ready for devices, such as smartphones, which can be used to meet the unique requirements of individual consumers. Network operators are cooperating. Having spent billions of Euros to build out these faster networks, they are beginning to realize that consumers want to use applications and services of their own choosing rather than simply relying on operator offerings. Additionally, network operators are now lowering data rates in order to attract the subscribers who will use these networks.
The smartphone market in Europe is increasingly oriented toward the consumer, which will help the market grow at a CAGR of 11% through 2012. This report provides an overview of these and other forces at work.
