Design, restorative building, biophilia, enhanced air quality and high performance building systems.

Written by leading national experts on the subject -- one of whom was recognized by Time magazine as a green innovator -- Sustainable Healthcare Architecture is the key guide to designing sustainable healthcare facilities. Building on the authors combined knowledge and experience, this book includes case studies of more than 50 of the best contemporary sustainable healthcare projects. The book also contains numerous essays contributed by other leaders in sustainable design and healthcare. Additionally, the authors provide background information on LEED for Healthcare, as well as on the Green Guide for Health Care, which they were instrumental in developing.

About the author:(s)

Robin Guenther, FAIA, LEED AP, is the founding principal of Guenther 5 Architects, an award-winning New York City firm with a focus on high-performance healing environments. In 2005, she received The Center for Health Design's Changemaker Award for her efforts to improve and support change in the healing environment. Guenther serves on the 2010 AIA Guidelines for Construction of Hospitals and Health Care Facilities Revision Committee, and is on the advisory board of GreenSource magazine.

Gail Vittori, LEED AP, is codirector of the Center for Maximum Potential Building Systems, an internationally recognized nonprofit design, research, and policy organization in Austin, Texas, where she has worked since 1979. She has served as secretary of the national board of directors of the U.S. Green Building Council and on the advisory board of Environmental Building News. Vittori received the 2002 Presidential Award for Leadership in Federal Energy Management and was a Loeb Fellow at Harvard University's Graduate School of Design. She was named a Green Innovator by Time magazine in 2007.
Together, Guenther and Vittori serve on the LEED for Health Care Core Committee and were both instrumental in developing the Green Guide for Health Care.
