A current analysis on the outlook of Macau’s casino gaming industry for 2007, including assessments of its hotel and airline industries, and the interdependence of these industries.
The author believes that Macau SAR will experience strong growth in Gross Casino Gaming Revenue (GGR) in 2007 as it continues to grow as the center of casino gaming industry in Asia. The author believes that Macau’s success as a tourism destination will be driven by a number of factors, including budget airline access, casino gaming developments, hotel lodging capacity, and length of visitor stay. In the coming years these factors will continue to be important in deciding Macau’s fate, while in the meantime, an estimated USD$20 billion of new investment is currently committed to future capital developments in Macau over the next 5 years from the tourism related sector. These investments will further develop Macau into tourism and gaming destination with a critical mass of enticing amenities – and a great number of visitors ready to take advantage of them as paying tourists.
