KEPCO is an integrated electric utility company engaged in the generation, transmission, distribution, and development of electric power resources. It recorded revenues of KRW27,408.8 billion (approximately $29.9 billion) during the fiscal year ended December 2006, an increase of 7.7% over 2005.
KEPCO had an aggregate installed generating capacity of 58,142 megawatts (MW) and total capacity of 65,514 MW as of December 31, 2006. During 2006, the company sold 348,719 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of electricity, up 4.9% from 2005. KEPCO is South Koreas electric utility monopoly, supplying around 90% of the countrys electrical power.
KEPCO operates in the following components of the energy value chain: wholesale energy, power generation, utilities networks, and utilities retail/wholesale. It is planning to become the worlds leading comprehensive energy provider by seeking new markets overseas and diversifying its business portfolio.
