The IBISWorld Cotton Growing in China industry report consists of establishments mainly engaged in growing seed cotton, which is then processed by other establishments. Seed cotton is cotton that is picked from the field and has had not been processed to remove cotton seed, or ginned. Most farmers are self-employed and utilize part-time labor during the harvest season only. Farmers generally have very small areas to farm, and often grow other crops or products on their land.
