A word from the author
“The last two years brought a very strong market for home furnishings companies in Poland. Poles’s growing wages stimulated consumer demand and rapid growth of residential construction, which gradually translated into higher turnovers of home furnishings stores and, as a consequence, into an increase of the value of the entire market of home equipment, décor and finishing products.
Promising market prospects attract new foreign players to Poland. For example, Spainbased Zara Home is preparing to open its first stores here. This goes hand in hand with the accelerating expansion of the existing chains, which seek to more effectively leverage the favourable market conditions. Emergence of new home furnishings stores is also stimulated by further growth of shopping centres, including specialist ones.
Even though home furnishing chains are growing at a frenetic pace, about 40% of all the revenues in the market is generated by independent traditional specialist stores, which are still the main place to shop for home equipment and decoration products for people living in small towns and villages”.
