US Business VoIP and Unified Communications
In-Stat/MDR, Sep 2008, Pages: 26
VoIP adoption continues to grow among US businesses at a considerable pace, and while adoption is still low for unified communications, its potential is intriguing. There are trends that occur in these two areas across all verticals, but there are also differences among verticals. This report examines overall trends in business VoIP and unified communications, as well as the particulars within four of the most important verticals: professional services, healthcare, government, and education.
To gain insight into behaviors and ideas around business VoIP and unified communications, in June 2008, we conducted a survey of 639 decision-makers from businesses where VoIP has been implemented. The survey included 95 professional services respondents, 65 from healthcare, 77 from government, and 71 from education.
This report first looks at business VoIP, including adoption plans, types of deployments, IM use, factors influencing deployment, and the effects of the slowing economy on deployments. The second section of this report looks at unified communications, including currently used applications, types of solutions, preferred providers, strategies, importance of applications, issues slowing implementation, and effects of the slowing economy on deployments.
