About the Author
Erik Houlleberghs, a native of Belgium, joined the oil industry in 1985. He has worked for three of the major international oil companies with postings in the Middle East, the Netherlands (North Sea), the United States and currently Russia. He currently advises senior management of ExxonMobil on new business opportunities in the former Soviet Union. Erik received a PhD in geology from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Belgium).
Alexander Zaslavsky, a native of Moscow, has for the last several years advised western energy companies on political risk in Russia and the CIS. Alexander received a PhD in International Relations from Nuffield College, Oxford University.
