- Non-residential construction has increased its share progressively from 2005 (when rapid GDP growth began) through to 2008: from 40% to almost 50% estimated in 2008.
- At the end of January 2009 there were 391,800 construction workers in Romania, compared to 393,400 a year before.
- Construction materials produced in Romania were worth RON 11bn in 2007, and we estimate that this figure grew by an extra 20% in 2008, reaching a value of RON 13.2bn.
- At the end of 2008, there were 38 shopping centres and retail parks in excess of 10,000 m² of GLA throughout Romania.
- Only eight shopping centres – three in Bucharest and five in the rest of the country – were close to completion in the first part of 2009.
