New Zealand - Mobile Communications - Statistics, Analysis and Major Operators Background Report 2010
Paul Budde Communication Pty Ltd., Dec 2010, Pages: 10
The entry of 2degrees as a third mobile network operator has created unprecedented competition in the New Zealand mobile telephony market, challenging the duopoly represented by Vodafone NZ and Telecom Mobile. In expectation of its August 2009 launch, the incumbents moved forward their own network upgrade plans, with Telecom Mobile launching its 3G WCDMA XT network in May. 2degrees came out of the gate with a prepaid only offer and aggressive pricing, but its long term success could depend on more regulatory change, especially round termination rates for voice and text. In the report we provide background information of mobile communications in New Zealand. This report is not updated. Regularly updated data on the company is available in the separate report: New Zealand - Mobile Communications - Statistics, Analysis & Major Operators.
