Business Online (BOL) is a Bangkok-based company which provides data on companies registered in Thailand. The company’s clients include banks, trading companies, government departments and financial service firms. The company was founded in 1995 and initially provided its customers with basic company data such as key shareholders, directors and financial information. BOL was given access to this company data through an agreement with the Thai Ministry of Commerce. BOL’s relationship with the Thai Government has been the key component in the company’s continuing competitive advantage in the Thai market.
In 1998, BOL formed a partnership with Dun & Bradstreet (D&B). The agreement proved to be beneficial for both firms as BOL provided the data on thousands of Thai companies and D&B shared their products and technological know-how with BOL. The partnership has allowed BOL to sell business data on the Thai companies in the D&B report format as well as D&B reports on foreign firms.
In 2010, BOL’s revenues were US$10.5 million, up 22% from 2009’s US$7.8 million. Approximately, 67% of revenues, US$7.1 million, were generated by its online information service – an increase of 3.3% over 2009 figure. The remaining revenues were generated by its consulting services – amounting to US$3.5 million, a jump of 95% over 2009 results. BOL’s net income for the year was US$2.4 million, a rise of 2.9% compared with US$2.1 million in the previous year.
