- Published: October 2008
The NAHB Research Center’s Builder Market Overview Reports provide a picture of market demand for products and materials purchased in the construction of new U.S. homes and the data is presented for each of the four U.S. Census Regions and U.S. Totals. This market demand data is obtained through an annual national survey of about 2,000 homebuilders. The resulting data are tabulated using a robust methodology to ensure accurate estimates of product demand, quantities purchased, types, styles, sizes, and other characteristics of materials used in new homes built each calendar year. The report presents data on materials purchased for single family detached homes, multifamily dwelling units, and total new home construction. Data are shown as separate “coefficients”, or per-house averages, for single and multi-family homes. Data are also presented as total volume of products or materials purchased for each Region and U.S. total. The Market Overview Report on new homes with Fire Sprinkler Systems, whether those systems were optional or code-required, and the type of system, CPVC, PEX, or other kind of Fire Sprinkler System.
