China’s Industry Report - Environmental Protection Industry

In the fourth quarter in 2008, affected by the economical crisis, the environmental protection industry experienced slowing growth rate, but still maintained high rate of increase. From January to November, total industrial output of specialized equipment manufacturing industry such as national environmental protection industry and social public security industry, etc. reached 107.563 billion yuan, increasing by 27.38% year-on-year, industrial sales output reached 103.41 billion yuan, going up by 27.66% year-on-year, and growth rate reduced by 9.66 and 12.08 percentage points respectively compare to the same period of last year. Affected by the reduction of demand for waste material by industrial enterprises and sharp price drop of steel price, growth of waste resources and materials recycling industry apparently slowed down, from January to November, total industrial output value reached hundred million yuan, increasing by 44.61% year-on-year, with growth rate reducing by 14.14 percentage points compare to the same period of last year. Sale of loss is larger compare to the same period of last year.
From January to November in 2008, total profit value of sewage treatment and reclamation industry reached 70.091 million yuan, increasing by 245.553 million yuan year-on-year, changing the situation of expanding of continuous loss value since 2007. Sales of water resource specialized machinery manufacturing industry has rapid growth, from January to November in 2008, its accumulative sales income reached 7.111 billion yuan, increasing by 50.49% compare to the same period of 2007.
Opposite of other industrial product’s sharp reduction in export affected by the financial crisis, our country’s export value and quantity of environmental protection equipment in fourth quarter maintained high growth momentum, up till the end of December, national accumulative export value of environmental equipment reached 333.8433 million USD, up 76.62% year-on-year, export quantity of 7007117, increasing by 68.2% year-on-year; accumulative import quantity of 7742987, going up by 9.99% year-on-year, import value of 716.4739 million USD, increasing by 15.49% year-on-year.
