The landscape of healthcare in New Brunswick has changed significantly throughout 2008. The eight Regional Health authorities (RHAs) created in 2002 were reorganized and reduced to 2 new Health Authorities. New Brunswick has taken steps towards realizing its vision of a “One Person, One Record” vision and is expected to have mostly completed its electronic health record system by the end of 2009. The EHR has cost the province roughly $12 million to date, with most funding coming from federal programs such as Infoway. The government is expected to introduce the Personal Health Information Act in spring 2009.
