CNS Year in Review: 2001
Datamonitor, Jan 2002
This Market Brief sets out the sales figures of the leading CNS drugs for 2001, together with the leading events, be they clinical trial results, product launches, patent expiries or court room battles which have helped to shape the market throughout the year. The major CNS disease markets are examined, namely Alzheimer’s disease, anticonvulsants, antidepressants, antipsychotics, migraine, multiple sclerosis, pain, and Parkinson’s disease. This brief paints a preliminary picture of the 2001 CNS market before the full yearly breakdowns have become available. Furthermore, it also provides a brief overview of the current trends in the CNS market and how individual markets may develop. The sales figures set out in this report are obtained from one of three sources. Priority was given to published 2001 results, however most of the figures presented are derived from primary research regarding quarterly sales, which were then projected to give a full year figure. However, in some cases it was not possible to obtain such figures. In these cases, the most up to date forecasts from Datamonitor’s reports were taken.
