Cardiovascular Medicine: Review and Update for the Practitioner provides an intensive and comprehensive review of cardiovascular medicine geared both to practicing physicians and to physicians who are candidates for the American Board of Internal Medicine’s subspecialty qualifying examination. The activity covers key issues in epidemiology, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of cardiovascular disease.

This program features Cardiovascular Imaging, led by the internationally renowned George A. Beller, MD. This session covers all aspects of cardiovascular imaging: MRI, SPECT, PET, myocardial viability, CT, venous and arterial ultrasound, and echocardiography. The program concludes with preventive cardiology, chaired by Peter Libby, MD. The sessions feature teaching and discussion focused on cardiovascular epidemiology, the elderly, emerging nutritional strategies, weight management, cardiac rehabilitation, and prevention of sudden cardiac death.

Other major topics of the program include atherosclerosis, acute coronary syndromes, congestive heart failure, cardiomyopathy, electrophysiology, vascular medicine, venous thromboembolism, valvular heart disease, stem cell research, and cardiac myocyte regeneration.
