Controversies in Women’s Health

The University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine (UCSF)
UCSF School of Medicine just recently conducted Controversies in Women’s Health.
Increasing appreciation of the unique needs of women patients and women health care providers has created a need for innovative educational programs on women’s health. Controversies in Women’s Health is designed for family physicians, internists, gynecologists, nurses, pharmacists, and all others involved in providing quality health care for women. This activity provides a practical update on a full range of common but controversial issues in women’s health. Emphasis has been placed on new developments in preventive care for women, issues in reproductive health, and clinical strategies in the diagnosis and treatment of common gynecologic and medical disorders of women.
Target Audience
Family physicians, internists, gynecologists, nurses, pharmacists and all others involved in providing quality health care for women. Learning Objectives
After viewing this activity, participants should be able to describe:
- Current recommendations for prevention and early detection of cancer in women with clinical exam, pap tests, genetic testing, diagnostic imaging and the HPV vaccine - Current approach to prevention of heart disease, cancer, dementia and functional decline in older women - Current strategies for effective family planning - New approaches to menopause including current indications and current regimens for hormone replacement therapy - Management of common office problems in women’s health including abnormal pap tests, breast lumps, menopause, vaginitis, STDs, migraine, diabetes mellitus, arthritis, osteoporosis, incontinence, and UTIs - Diagnosis and treatment of common skin problems in women - Current approaches to evaluation and treatment of sexual dysfunction in women - Diagnosis and treatment of common and unique sports injuries in women

The University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine (UCSF) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Credit Designation
UCSF designates this educational activity for a maximum of 10 .5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™. Each physician should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
This CME activity meets the requirements under California Assembly Bill 1195, continuing education and cultural and linguistic competency.
