Fruits in India
Euromonitor International, April 2013, Pages: 14
Fruits as a whole registered a drop of 9% in total volume terms in 2012. The substantial drop in consumption was the result of a fall in production of grapes, apples, bananas and oranges due to inadequate rainfall in the major fruit growing regions of India, as well as floods in other regions, which led to a supply shortage and rise in prices. Fruit consumption is expected to return to normal levels in 2013 if rainfall levels recover.
