At the beginning of 2009, China issued 3G licences to three major operators - China Telecom, China Mobile and China Unicom - with the intention of increasing competition in the mobile and broadband markets. The government also hoped to drive fibre development in China. In this report we examine the current state and future development of fibre in China. Although progress has been made, there are still several important areas where improvements must be made.
