Update and Intensive Review of Internal Medicine


Description: The major objectives of this course are to provide a comprehensive review of the most important advances that have recently been made in internal medicine, and to help candidates prepare for the Internal Medicine Boards or the Recertification Examination. Internists and family practitioners in practice will also find this course very beneficial. The emphasis will be placed on progress that has been made in pathophysiology and clinical management of the most common disorders seen by the internist and family practitioners. Each of the major subspecialties will be covered including cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, hematology, infectious disease, nephrology, neurology, oncology, pulmonary disease, and rheumatology.

Target Audience

- Physicians preparing for the Internal Medicine Boards or Recertification Examination

- Practicing internists and family practitioners interested in refreshing their knowledge of internal medicine

Learning Objectives

After reviewing this educational activity, participants should be able to:

- Understand the clinically important advances that have been made in common diseases

- Have an awareness of areas of strength and weakness by participating in interactive computer-based sessions

- Make recommendations for optimal management for many common diseases

- Prepare for exams from a special lecture on how to take the Internal Medicine Board Examination
