The Art of Facilitation: The Essentials for Leading Great Meetings and Creating Group Synergy, Revised Edition
John Wiley and Sons Ltd, Sep 2009, Pages: 352
The book is organized in three parts. Part one describes the profession of group facilitation, the role of a facilitator, the conceptual framework used in the book, and some of the key elements of facilitation. Part two moves beyond the practical discussion of facilitation strategies to consider some of the issues and challenges that facilitators individually and collectively face, such as how the facilitators role is defined with their clients, cooperative processes, ethics and the facilitators contribution to a sustainable society. Part three of the book is focused on facilitator education theory and processes and provides a sample program that could be used with a group of peers to develop facilitation capabilities through experiential learning. It also includes 52 processes that are useful both for facilitators and facilitation educators alike.
