EMC Acquires FastScale Technology
Enterprise Management Associates, Sep 2009, Pages: 4
On August 31, 2009, EMC announced the acquisition of FastScale a provider of automation server provisioning software. Automation is a key component in the move to improve operational efficiencies in the datacenter. Key vendors playing in this space include: HP, IBM, CA, BMC, Symantec, and Microsoft.
EMA analysts believe that the FastScale acquisition is the right move for EMC and it fits nicely into their Ionix business unit. The move will benefit both FastScale and EMC customers alike. Automated server configuration is a key component in both the physical and virtual implementations in the datacenter. EMC still has some gaps to fill, but this was an important addition to their automation offerings and shows a commitment to become a more rounded, full service IT management player.
