The Chinese motorcycle manufacturing industry consists of the manufacturing of whole motorcycles, motorcycle parts and accessories.

From January to May, 2009, the sales revenue of the Chinese motorcycle industry totalled RMB 78.785 billion, dropping by 1.01% YOY. The growth rate fell by 25.42% YOY. At the end of May, the asset of Chinese motorcycle manufacturing industry reached RMB 125.537 billion, increasing by 9.57% YOY. The growth rate was reduced by 6.05% YOY. There were 2,029 motorcycle manufacturers, growing by 250 YOY.

From January to May, 2009, the profit of the Chinese motorcycle manufacturing industry was RMB 3.321 billion, increasing by RMB 592 million YOY. The loss of unprofitable enterprises came up to RMB 290 million, rising by 25.82% YOY. The growth rate grew by 0.54% YOY.

In 2009H1, the production of the Chinese motorcycles was 11.896 million. Guangdong, Chongqing, Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Henan ranked among the Top 5, whose total production accounted for 84.96% of that in China

In 2009H1, the production of the Chinese motorcycles dropped by 7.60% YOY. Tianjin, Shaanxi, Hebei, Guangxi and Liaoning achieved comparatively higher YOY production growth rates.

Though the Chinese motorcycle manufacturing industry didn’t recover completely from the financial crisis, the demands are stimulated by the program of motorcycles going to the country side of Chinese central government. The adjustment of implementation program of National Emission Standard gives opportunities to motorcycle manufacturers despite the unfavourable effects on testing institutions and supporting enterprises. During the present opportune period, the Chinese competitive motorcycle enterprises begin to carry out investment and purchases overseas.
