While the CE industry is a multi-billion dollar one, the returns generated also tally in billions of dollars. This creates stresses for the many players in the market, including manufacturers and retailers. The 2008 CE Product Returns study is the seventh in a series of studies conducted by CEA Market Research to further the industry's understanding of key questions surrounding product returns, including:

- Are return rates increasing or decreasing? What is the total dollar value of returns?

- When returning products, does the consumer exchange for another product by the same manufacturer or a different one? Or is the money just leaving the CE industry?
