Over the last few years, Europe has maintained its positions as the global leader in solar PV power generation, with more than two-third of world’s solar photovoltaic installed capacity. For many years, Germany was the largest market for solar PV deployment as well as the leading producer of solar cells and modules. However, Spain replaced it as the largest solar PV market in 2008 with deployment of new capacity in excess of 2.5GW. New markets like Italy, France, Portugal, etc have emerged over the last couple of years, further strengthening the overall European market.
