IP Telephony on a Rapid Growth Trajectory 2007
AMI Partners, Jan 2007, Pages: 20
This report presents a 2005-2010 worldwide and North America forecast for the SMB PBX (IP and TDM) market. The global small and medium business (SMB) segment for PBX (IP and TDM) is set to reach US $6.7 billion this year—from about US $5.5 billion in 2005.
As SMBs migrate from traditional TDM voice networks to converged voice and data networks (IP networks) to converged communications — SMBs will migrate parts of their infrastructure from one phase to the next as they grow and acquire new technology solutions. Very few SMBs are open to a complete rip and replace strategy.
Due to this phased migration, it is essential that businesses deploy solutions that can accommodate existing infrastructures and investments, while providing a foundation for new IP-based infrastructure, applications, and services. However, the speed of this transition from TDM to IP-based technology is accelerating more rapidly now that the reliability and cost savings benefits of the new IP technology are established; and the pricing is more in line with what the SMBs can afford.
